Session Details

I've put together a list of answers to common questions so you will feel prepared and comfortable, knowing you chose the right photographer for you.


Where is your studio?

I bring my studio to you :) Or you can come to me, whichever you prefer.

For family portraits or when your children are older we go to a beach or a park near you and I follow them around, capturing their true essence and the natural interaction of your family. That way the portraits convey who you really are and are never posed and stilted.


What should we wear?

For studio-style shoot, usually a simple black or white shirt for both dad and mom is a great choice because they translate well to black and white as you can see from the shots on here. For women a feminine neckline looks good, but your personal style is what is most important.

Infants are often photographed in their birthday suit, modestly, as you see in the gallery. I sometimes photograph them in a special outfit as well, and we can go over what will look best.

For location, beach, park shoot the choices are more open. You can see my clients wore matching styles, if not colors, to nice effect. Styles and colors are up to you, and I'll happily guide you.


Any little details to help us get the best images possible?

Since we do a lot of close-ups on hands, it's always nice to have a manicure, even if you do it yourself, before you arrive. It's the little details that complete the entire picture.


I see mostly black and white in the baby gallery. Do you prefer that over color?

I shoot all images in digital color in RAW format. I then process them in Adobe Photoshop, converting each using my artistic eye. If you’d like the images to be all black and white or even all color, I accommodate these wishes without hesitation.


When is the best time to take pictures of an baby?

As early as two weeks old, and earlier if you'd like! I hear many parents say “I can’t believe they were ever that small” and to me those moments captured forever are a true gift. Babies begin to show more of their personality as they get older so if you'd prefer to wait a bit, that's fine, too. No matter what, the images will be wonderful.


When do I get to see the images?

Within 5 days of the session, normally, you will receive an online link to a proof sheet where you can view all of the images. You can email this link to your family and friends, too.


Why are you more reasonably priced than a lot of baby photographers?

Because I have very low overhead with no employees or high studio rental costs. And I do all the retouching myself.


Are the digital negatives available for purchase?

Yep! If you’d like to buy the CD of images, you may do so.


And how do you pronounce your name?

My name is pronounced Fell-y, like Kelly but… different. ;) I look forward to meeting you!
